It is the best thing ever to have the NC Arboretum so close for a quick adventure. Between the seasonal change and all the constant hard work by the grounds crew, it is never the same on campus. It has been awhile since I shared any photos from the gardens, so I created a small collection of images from a few visits this summer. The art integrated into the landscape is so inspiring! The gardens and trails are always the perfect escape - and they make the best location for photo sessions.

I am looking forward to being a vendor at the Arboretum fall Plant Sale September 16-17. If you haven't gotten a chance to go to the plant sale there yet, mark your calendar and make sure to come visit. Do not miss out - SO many great plants and plant related goodness! If you can't make it those days, if you make it on campus, I have an assortment of cards, coasters, prints and more for sale at the shop in the Baker Center. I am happy to ship if not in the area or if you visit and don't want worry about transporting your photo art home. Contact me for more info.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

Charleston Escape for a night - Trees, shorelines, a sunset, and a sunrise - Charleston, SC travel p

In February I found myself with a little window on the calendar to escape and got in the car headed southeast. Charleston was the destination. Seeing the Angel Oak and the ocean were my main goals. It ended up being the perfect overnight get away from the cold, grey weather that was lingering in the mountains. A 'quick' overnight trip to this beautiful area left me longing to stay much longer. I managed to see so many wonderful parks, beaches, inlets, and trees that inspired me to no end. The Angel Oak has been on my must see list for as long as I have known it existed, and I am so glad I was able to visit its magnificence. I was not disappointed. At all. It was so lovely to meet a local artist, Frank DeLoach, in Angel Oak park where he was displaying some of his wonderful Angel Oak inspired art. I could have spent all day staring at and photographing that beautiful tree.

Charleston - I now really understand why so many people LOVE that area. The ecological diversity is mind-blowing. The history - the architecture - the landscapes - the food! are all spectacular. That each island and area has a bit of its own flavor is pretty amazing as well. Cannot wait to return soon.

I am excited to share some of my adventure with you! Hope you enjoy! If you know of places in that area I must see and need to add to my list for next time, let me know!
